Mindset is a vital part of your creative life. You may have a strong desire to create, but some ways of thinking are keeping you from doing so. Resistance is real and you are not alone. There are many common obstacles to scrapbooking including overwhelm, anxiety, procrastination, time constraints, negative self-talk, avoidance, decision fatigue, and self-sabotage. With gentle questionning and compassionate curiosity, you can identify what is holding you back. As you take action, you can begin dismanteling those limiting beliefs and watch your confidence grow. Little by little, baby step by baby step, you will be able to move into your power and enjoy the creative gifts that are uniquely yours and meant to bring you joy.
The way you choose to document your memories is as unique as your fingerprint. Your favorite supplies, methods, and formats along with your individual spin all swirl together to form your personal style and brand. This to be celebrated! First, you need to play, explore and experiment to find out what you are drawn to. In the repetitive process of making, your choices (the supplies you love to use) and your method (the way you naturally express yourself) blend together to inform your style. Once you know your preferences, you can create systems to incorporate creativity into your daily life and advance your creative output. What you gravitate towards naturally are the bread crumbs you need to follow. The more you create, the more you will see your individual style emerge. Own it. Love it. Share it. There is no one else like you.
My love for vintage ephemera runs deep. I was introduced to the charms of the rusty and dusty by my extroverted Italian grandmother who sold antiques out of a barn in rural central Texas. Old valentines, wrapping paper, paper dolls, tickets, labels, and dime store trinkets: things that are already infused with good juju and by some miracle have not ended up in the trash, are the supplies that light me up. Merging two passions: junking and scrapbooking is the cornerstone of my brand and how I naturally like to express myself. Whether you like vintage or modern, repurposed junk journals, brand new scrapbooks and supplies, Project Life, or traditional scrapbook papers, I encourage you to play, find what feels easy, and then embrace it wholeheartedly.
Perfectionism. Overwhelm. Time. Lack of Direction. Decision Fatigue. These are all familiar types of resistance to creating. My mission is to help you unravel these limiting beliefs and find what feels easy for you so you can begin to take action and more importantly, have fun creating!
